I couldn't take it. I couldn't go from the Palm Pre to a Blackberry.
I thought I could, it made sense to switch plans and consolidate
phones, but to go from a touch screen phone to a non-touch simply
sucks. Some might say, just get the iPhone and get over it, and yes
it's a great phone, with a megazillion apps, but also everyone has it
and it's a bit boring. Where's the risk, the excitement, the
possibility of Google stealing all your personal information? It was
the only logical alternative, an Android phone. Palm is dead.
Windows mobile should be dead and I have no idea how people can use
the Blackberry.
Enough rambling, what did I get? The G2. Oh it's so sweet, with a
slide out keyboard and it does all you can ask and more. Feels great
in your hand, very well built, heavy but not cumbersome. The hinged
keyboard takes a bit to get use to, the way you expect it to slide
out, but instead it sort of folds out. So far I haven't delved into
the apps, but all the preinstalled Google apps work fast and cover
everything from email to messaging to navigation and local reviews.
Camera is good (but then compared to the Blackberry or even the Pre,
what isn't good).
