Extreme Exposure: free photography exhibit

Posted by web ninja

Went to the Annenberg Space for Photography for the Extreme Exposure exhibit.  It is a small museum, but the space is amazing.  The whole plaza was very cool to look at and the inside museum space was very nicely designed.  They also had the Microsoft Surface tables, which was fun to play with.  The main screens that showed the video for the Extreme Exposure exhibit where amazingly crisp and the multimedia display (audio, video, multiple screens) was very immersive.  Highly recommend this if you're in the LA area.

G Unit

Posted by web ninja

I couldn't take it. I couldn't go from the Palm Pre to a Blackberry.
I thought I could, it made sense to switch plans and consolidate
phones, but to go from a touch screen phone to a non-touch simply
sucks. Some might say, just get the iPhone and get over it, and yes
it's a great phone, with a megazillion apps, but also everyone has it
and it's a bit boring. Where's the risk, the excitement, the
possibility of Google stealing all your personal information? It was
the only logical alternative, an Android phone. Palm is dead.
Windows mobile should be dead and I have no idea how people can use
the Blackberry.

Enough rambling, what did I get? The G2. Oh it's so sweet, with a
slide out keyboard and it does all you can ask and more. Feels great
in your hand, very well built, heavy but not cumbersome. The hinged
keyboard takes a bit to get use to, the way you expect it to slide
out, but instead it sort of folds out. So far I haven't delved into
the apps, but all the preinstalled Google apps work fast and cover
everything from email to messaging to navigation and local reviews.
Camera is good (but then compared to the Blackberry or even the Pre,
what isn't good).

Turn off Conversations in Gmail

Posted by web ninja

Oh finally it can be done, and now Gmail works like a standard email
program rather than a threaded one. Cool of them to give us the
option.

Jeff Koons BMW Art Car

Forgot how cool all the old BMW art cars are.  This new one, isn't bad, but I'm not thrilled about the vinyl.

500hp plug-in Porsche

I like how it gets 16 miles range on electric alone, but hey at least the wheels look like they're pulsing with electricity (or something out of Tron)
